PENN music task

Hello! This term in extension we had to make music for PENN! PENN doesnt have any original music so thats why our project was to make songs for PENN!

Firstly since PENN was the news for our school we had to research some things about the music that plays in the news. We listened to a list of songs about the news and we figured out which instruments are used, the synthesizer and electric piano were used the most. After watching those videos we had to complete a reaserch task that would help us on our journy to make music. We then had to choose the part of PENN we want to make music for. There are 3 parts of PENN main, sports and weather.

I chose to make music for the weather part. It was now time to start making our songs! In the first 2 weeks, I found it really challenging. This is because I had no idea and no skill with musical instruments. I thought I wasnt going to get anything done but then that’s when I remembered loops. Garage band has loops that you can use for your own songs. Thats when I started making my actual song!!!

The instruments the loops  were using were a synthesizer, drums and a bass i think. After a while I managed to finish my song but there were 2 versions. The second on is the one you see at the very top  while the 1st version is at the bottom. Although the first one sounded nice and epic I thought it was too complicated for the weather.

Here is the scrapped version:

Thank you KMPG

Dear Justine and the team

Hello and thank you for having us as your guests at KPMG!  You guys always worked hard just to provide us with a fun experience every time we went there!

The activities and themes you guys prepared for us were always engaging and fun! Not only did we have fun but we also learned a lot on how to co-operate with people we usually didn’t work with before. I especially enjoyed that time when we were competing with each other in different challenges.

The food you guys made for us was AMAZING. The dishes your great chefs served did not disappoint and they managed to still create great food for people who can’t eat certain things. We even had dessert after eating!

I am grateful for the fun activities and themes you guys prepared for us and the great food! I am saddened I won’t be able to be there anymore but keep making cool activities and food for next year!

Kind regards Michael

Extension movie making

This term we had to make a movie for the film festival! in the first week we  made some ideas on what movie we are going to make. Here are our ideas! There were many ideas but only a few made it.

Although we had to vote for the best idea. Only 4 made it out. We then had to do the final vote. Before we did the final vote Miss Burton made us get into groups and then assigned one of the topics. This was because we had to make the first scene of our topic and then convince the others to vote for our one. After a while we had to present our scenes. The group that won was my group! Our topic was a music parody.  In the second week we learned about what is a parody and a satire . Here are the slides.

We then had to storyboard and plan the whole movie. The challenging part of story boarding the movie was actually coming up with ideas and drawing them. So after a while we all finished drawing our storyboard here is our  finished product  !!

The fourth week is where we started to actually record parts of the movie. John and I had to edit the movie so we were able to stay behind while the others recorded. It was difficult for all of us It is the current week and we’ve recorded and edited most of the movie, It looks and sounds really good so I hope you will enjoy watching it next term!

Fly or invisibility?

If I were given a choice of flight or invisibility I would’ve chosen flight. Invisibility is cool but flight is more fun and it makes your life easier.

For example : you have to plan, save and prepare just to get to another country but with flying you could go anywhere you want.

But not only does flying make your life easier but it saves your life too. Like if a tsunami was near your area you could just fly up and avoid the danger So this is why I chose flight over invisibility.
